Intermediate is defined as someone who can sight-read simple tab, has played some chords and chord-melody songs, and is learning more advanced right and left hand techniques. Often, this person is advanced at some skills, but has yet to explore other skills (i.e. can play fiddle tunes well, but hasn't tried fingerpicking; can play hammer-on's and pull-off's, but hasn't tried flatpicking; etc.)
