Mountain Dulcimer the Traditional Way

Service Description

**Repertoire courses focus on learning songs and tunes, along with the history and social context of the music. Arrangements are generally presented with a scaffolded approach so that novice to advanced students can all participate.** Take a step back in time as we approach mountain dulcimer playing in the traditional way — we’ll explore the use of feathers, noters, bows, and a variety of tunings. We’ll sing with the dulcimer in the style of Jean Ritchie, but also play fiddle tunes and hymns. We’ll learn about some of the ancestral fretted zither instruments like the Scheitholt, Epinette de Voges, Hummel, Langspil, and Citera.
